400 Megapixel Multi-Shot Medium Camera Launched By Hasselblad

Hasselblad has recently made an announcement regarding a 400-megapixel medium format camera, which is capable of capturing images that are sized at 2.4GB. The H6D-400C MS boasts of sensor-shift and multi-shot features. It would be priced at a whopping $47,995 (roughly Rs. 30,64,200). Pre-order registrations begin from January 16 and it will go on sale from March 2018.

This is said to be an addition to the company’s H6D medium format camera series. The H6D-400C system sports a 100 megapixel CMOS sensor with dimensions of 53.4x40mm. It relies on Multi-Shot technology to attain the full 400-megapixel resolution. The Multi-Shot mode can capture a total of 6 images, which are then merged to get a 400-megapixel image. As per the company, the image has “an astonishing moirĂ©-free level of detail.”

In order to use the multi-shot functionality, the camera has to be tethered via USB to a computer. For images that do not need 400-megapixel resolution, option for a 100-megapixel is also available. The images can be taken in a single shot or using the Multi-Shot technology but with four exposures in place of six.

The other features of the camera comprise of Dual media card slots, a three-inch touchscreen display, Hasselblad’s True Focus II autofocus technology, shutter speed of up to 60 min, USB Type-C port, Wi-Fi, HDMI along with an audio input. The H6D-400 is even provided with a native ISO range of 64 to 12,800 and can efficiently record Full HD and 4K UHD RAW video at up to 25 fps.

The best part of this camera is that users who do not want to shell out such a huge sum of money can also get it on rent on a daily basis. Besides the pricing, which is mentioned, the rent fee is EUR 399 (roughly Rs. 23,400) per day.
